Community Relations Superintendent

About the role

The Community Relations Superintendent will lead and manage Perseus Mining’s community engagement strategy for the Nyanzaga project in Tanzania. Reporting to the Community Relations Manager and Construction Manager, the role ensures transparent communication with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders while supporting sustainable development goals and compliance with Tanzanian legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement community relations strategies aligned with corporate goals and local regulations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the company and local communities, ensuring open and transparent communication.
• Lead public consultations, community meetings, and awareness programmes.
• Address and resolve community grievances promptly and effectively.
• Collaborate with government authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders on community development projects.
• Monitor and report on the social impact of mining activities, ensuring compliance with environmental and social standards.
• Manage a team of community relations officers, providing guidance and professional development.
• Prepare regular reports on activities, progress, challenges, and recommendations.
• Support fair and transparent resettlement and compensation processes.
• Promote ethical practices, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable development within the project.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Relations or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years experience in mine‑site community roles, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent capacity.
• Proven ability to engage with local communities, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian legislative framework and international best practices for community engagement.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
