Client Analyst – Credit Risk Evaluation

About the role

The Client Analyst will evaluate counter‑party credit risks associated with Business Banking lending at the client interface. The primary objective is to contain credit risk within acceptable parameters while supporting profitable deal structures.

Key responsibilities

• Identify credit and risk management requirements during deal negotiation and conduct credit evaluation interviews.
• Decline non‑viable proposals at source and collaborate with Origination Managers, Relationship Managers and Commercial Heads to redesign deals within risk and profitability limits.
• Develop high‑quality credit solutions, recommend appropriate facilities, and seek fast approval from Credit teams.
• Prepare and present credit facility proposals to the Credit Committee, including Acceptable Applications for Facility (AFF) and sanction letters.
• Work closely with Relationship Managers on new and existing credit applications, providing guidance on credit appetite and risk parameters.
• Liaise with the Head of Credit and sanctioning managers for exceptions beyond standard risk discretion.
• Attend client meetings with Relationship Managers to resolve credit‑related issues.
• Contribute to process improvements, change management initiatives, and cost‑reduction efforts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit risk assessment, preferably within Business Banking or corporate lending.
• Strong analytical ability to quantify and evaluate sources of risk and profitability.
• Excellent communication skills to present and defend credit judgments to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Origination, Relationship Management and Credit teams.
• Understanding of industry risk analysis and contextual threats to clients.
