Chief Accountant – Pharma Finance Leader

About the role

CVPeople Tanzania is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead the finance function for its pharmaceutical operations in Dar es Salaam. The role reports to the Head of Finance and is responsible for the integrity of financial records, statutory compliance, treasury, and working‑capital management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, annual financial statements and ad‑hoc reports in line with IFRS and company policies.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including balance‑sheet reconciliations and gross‑margin analysis.
• Oversee treasury activities, monitor daily cash positions, and optimise liquidity through inter‑bank transfers.
• Supervise accounts‑receivable and accounts‑payable functions, ensuring timely collections, supplier payments and resolution of discrepancies.
• Process payroll journals, reconcile payroll accounts and ensure statutory remittances are made on time.
• Maintain inventory costing sheets and support product import costing.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably 6 years in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, statutory compliance and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to manage treasury, cash flow and working‑capital functions.
• Experience in a pharmaceutical or similar regulated industry is an advantage.
