Chef – Dar es Salaam

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chef to lead our kitchen operations in Dar es Salaam. You will be responsible for preparing high‑quality dishes, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring food safety standards are consistently met.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Plan and organize daily menus, food preparation, and kitchen activities.
• Ensure all meals are delivered with consistent taste, quality, presentation, and portion control.
• Monitor food stock, ingredients, and kitchen supplies; report shortages promptly.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
• Oversee proper storage and handling of food to minimize waste and prevent contamination.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen assistants and other kitchen staff where applicable.
• Monitor food costs and minimize unnecessary wastage.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of all kitchen equipment and work areas.
• Assist with menu development and introduce new dishes as required.
• Ensure timely preparation and service of meals.
• Comply with company policies, health regulations, and food safety requirements.

Required profile

• Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Chef or in a similar culinary role.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Creativity and attention to detail in food presentation.
