Assistant General Manager

About the role

The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager in overseeing all operations on Mnemba Island, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and sustainable practices. This role blends operational leadership with staff development and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with daily operations, guest interactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Support training and development of staff across housekeeping, butler, and kitchen teams.
• Manage uniform orders, South Africa supplies, and vendor relationships.
• Participate in OPEX and CAPEX budgeting and financial reporting.
• Oversee social media, PR communications, and guest satisfaction metrics.
• Coordinate conservation projects and liaise with government and partner organizations.
• Handle HR duties including performance appraisals, contract administration, and monthly HR reporting.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management.
• 3‑4 years of relevant experience in hospitality operations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive, and able to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.
