Youth Engagement Officer

About the role

Plan International is hiring a Youth Engagement Officer for a project in Tanga, Tanzania, working with GIZ and the Ministry of Health and the PMO-RALG. The project supports young people, especially young women, to make informed decisions about their health and future, through four work packages covering youth clubs, community engagement, communication campaigns and civil society support. The role reports to the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a youth perspective in designing, implementing and adapting project activities across all work packages
• Support school- and youth-club activities, including trainings, events, peer-learning and extracurricular activities
• Help co-create and review SRHR messages, training materials and IEC products for youth-friendly language and formats
• Support community engagement, including dialogue with opinion leaders, by sharing youth realities and barriers to access
• Take part in monitoring and learning, collecting feedback from young people and documenting lessons learned
• Act as liaison between the project team and youth participants, safeguarding inclusion and respect

Required profile

• Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE)
• 2 years of engagement in youth-led or youth-focused initiatives such as school or youth clubs, community organisations, advocacy groups or volunteer programmes
• Knowledge of English
• Right to live and work in Tanzania
