Yard, Stores & Distribution Manager

About the role

The Yard, Stores & Distribution Manager will lead all yard, warehouse and distribution activities for a fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) operation in Mwanza. The role ensures efficient product handling, accurate inventory control, timely deliveries and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily yard and warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, handling and dispatch of goods.
• Maintain proper arrangement, protection and housekeeping of inventory in the yard and stores.
• Manage loading and unloading processes to maximise accuracy and efficiency.
• Control stock through receiving, issuing, reconciliation and regular cycle counts, reducing losses and discrepancies.
• Coordinate distribution activities, working with sales and transport teams to optimise delivery schedules, routes and fleet utilisation.
• Monitor delivery performance, operational costs and ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time.
• Lead, supervise and develop yard, warehouse and distribution teams, allocating duties and tracking performance against targets.
• Prepare operational reports on inventory, distribution and warehouse performance and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum five years’ experience in FMCG manufacturing, managing warehouse, stores, yard and distribution operations.
• Proven ability to lead and develop logistics teams.
• Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse systems and distribution processes.
• Familiarity with ERP/Warehouse Management Systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
