Volunteer Coordinator – Rift Valley Children’s Village

About the role

The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) is a full‑time senior staff member based at Rift Valley Children’s Village in rural northern Tanzania. Reporting to both the Executive Director and the US Director, the VC oversees daily volunteer operations and contributes to long‑term program growth.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries from potential volunteers, visitors, donors, and board members.
• Screen volunteers, conduct background checks, and assess alignment with village needs.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records, including stay length, housing assignments, and placement details.
• Coordinate travel logistics, visa processing, and accommodation arrangements for volunteers, visitors, and board members.
• Book and organize Sunday activities, safaris, and corporate‑rate travel where possible.
• Provide orientation, onboarding, and tours for new volunteers and day visitors.
• Create schedules that match volunteer skills and interests with village requirements.
• Assist with orders and purchases requested by volunteers and visitors for the Rift Valley Women’s Group.
