Underwriting Assistant

About the role

The Underwriting Assistant supports the Underwriting Manager in preparing competitive insurance quotations, processing policy documents, and delivering high‑quality service to clients and brokers. The role ensures accurate risk assessment, timely premium collection, and proper documentation in line with company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Underwriting Manager in drafting insurance premium quotations for client and broker presentations.
• Prepare policy documents, endorsements, and related paperwork using approved wordings.
• Provide friendly, timely, and accurate customer service according to set standards.
• Underwrite risks consistently with treaty programs and company guidelines.
• Collect premiums before coverage attaches for bank clients and ensure any deviations are approved.
• Issue documents within defined turnaround times and maintain clear premium calculations.
• Respond promptly to incoming mail, emails, and phone calls assigned to the role.
• Prioritise workflow to meet monthly processing budgets and renewal targets.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with market players to maximise business opportunities.
• Escalate major or unusual risks to the Underwriting Manager for guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (insurance option preferred).
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII certificate).
• 2‑4 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Required skills

• Knowledge of insurance concepts.
• Understanding of underwriting processes.
