Underwriting Assistant

About the role

The Underwriting Assistant supports the Underwriting Manager in preparing competitive insurance quotations, policy documentation, and premium calculations. The role ensures accurate and timely service to clients and brokers while adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Underwriting Manager in drafting and presenting insurance premium quotations.
• Prepare policy documents, endorsements, and related paperwork using approved wordings.
• Provide friendly, timely, and accurate customer service.
• Underwrite risks in line with treaty programs and company standards.
• Collect premiums before coverage attaches for bank clients.
• Issue documents within defined turnaround times and maintain proper filing.
• Respond promptly to mail, emails, and phone inquiries.
• Prioritise workflow to meet monthly processing targets.
• Process renewals and follow up with clients and brokers to retain business.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with market players.
• Escalate major or unusual risks to the Underwriting Manager.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (insurance focus preferred).
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII certificate).
• 2‑4 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Required skills

• Knowledge of insurance concepts.
• Understanding of underwriting processes.
