Transportation Specialist

About the role

The Transportation Specialist will coordinate container pickups and deliveries, manage relationships with trucking partners, and ensure accurate financial reconciliation of freight charges. This role is pivotal in maintaining smooth logistics operations and controlling transportation costs.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with trucking companies, schedule capacity during peak periods, and evaluate carrier performance.
• Reconcile freight invoices, verify accounts payable, and monitor miscellaneous fees to enforce strict cost control.
• Manage the container pickup process: obtain Schedule of Orders, confirm pickup details, dispatch trucks, and oversee shipping documentation.
• Inspect containers at pickup for correct numbering, type, condition, and absence of odors.
• Oversee loading at factories, verify weight and container counts, sign return receipts, and ensure timely entry of loaded containers into the port.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in ocean freight, trucking, dispatching, or freight forwarding operations.
• Familiarity with local port yard container pickup and return procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Transport, Logistics, or a related field.
• Strong numerical sensitivity and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) for batch account verification.
