Technical Project Manager

About the role

The Technical Project Manager will drive day‑to‑day technical delivery of the Core Wallet and Core Banking Transformation programme. Reporting to the Programme Director, you will translate the roadmap into executable sprints, manage dependencies, and ensure the programme stays on schedule, budget and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain detailed technical project plans, decompose roadmaps into sprints, milestones and acceptance criteria.
• Run delivery ceremonies (sprint planning, stand‑ups, demos, retrospectives) and keep an up‑to‑date view of scope, schedule and budget.
• Identify, log and mitigate risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID) across workstreams.
• Coordinate core wallet delivery teams, third‑party vendors and internal technology groups, ensuring SLA adherence and timely issue resolution.
• Plan and orchestrate SIT, UAT, performance and security testing, manage defects and validate technical readiness for go‑live.
• Produce regular status reports, maintain project artefacts and contribute to steering‑committee packs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field; PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master or SAFe certifications strongly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of technology project/delivery management experience, including at least 3 years in fintech, mobile money, digital banking or telecom.
• Hands‑on experience delivering core wallet, core banking or payments platforms and managing tier‑1 vendor teams.
• Proven ability to work in multi‑country African markets and to lead multicultural, multilingual teams.

• Methodologies: Agile (Scrum, Kanban), Waterfall and hybrid delivery models.
• Technical domains: core wallet platforms, core banking systems, payments platforms, data migration and integration design.
