Technical Project Manager

About the role

The Technical Project Manager will drive day‑to‑day technical delivery of the Core Wallet and Core Banking Transformation programme. Reporting to the Programme Director, you will translate high‑level roadmaps into executable sprints, manage dependencies and ensure the programme stays on schedule, budget and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain detailed technical plans for assigned workstreams, decompose roadmaps into sprints, milestones and acceptance criteria.
• Run agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand‑ups, demos, retrospectives) and keep an up‑to‑date view of scope, schedule and budget.
• Identify, log and mitigate risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID) across workstreams.
• Coordinate core wallet delivery teams, third‑party vendors and internal technology groups, ensuring SLA adherence and accountability.
• Plan and orchestrate SIT, UAT, performance and security testing, track defects and validate technical readiness for go‑live.
• Produce regular status reports, maintain project artefacts and contribute to steering‑committee packs.
• Track workstream budget consumption, manage resource onboarding/off‑boarding and enforce tooling discipline (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field; PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master or SAFe certifications preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of technology project/delivery management experience, including at least 3 years in fintech, mobile money or digital banking.
• Hands‑on experience with core wallet, core banking or payments platforms and managing tier‑1 vendor deliveries.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills; ability to work under pressure during cut‑overs.
• Experience in African markets or multi‑country roll‑outs is a plus.
