Technical Lead – RMNCAH (Maternal & Child Health)

About the role

The Technical Lead – RMNCAH will provide overall technical leadership and strategic oversight for Americares’ Integrated Maternal Health, Family Planning, Obstetric Fistula and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) project in Tanzania. This role ensures high‑quality, evidence‑based interventions across both facility and community platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation and quality assurance of integrated RMNCAH interventions.
• Oversee capacity‑building activities such as on‑the‑job training, on‑site mentorship, supportive supervision and clinical attachment.
• Drive quality‑improvement initiatives and health‑systems strengthening efforts.
• Integrate mental health and psychosocial support into maternal and newborn health services.
• Collaborate closely with regional and council health management teams, referral hospitals (e.g., Bugando Medical Centre), sub‑granted civil society organizations and community structures.
• Ensure project alignment with national policies, strengthen referral systems and deliver measurable outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing RMNCAH programs, including maternal health, family planning, obstetric fistula and MHPSS.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian national health policies and guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and build capacity of health workers.
• Experience working with government health ministries, referral hospitals and civil society partners.
