Sustainability Manager – Africa

About the role

We are seeking a Sustainability Manager to lead the development and delivery of our sustainability strategy across Africa, aligning with global targets and customer requirements. The role will drive programmes in sustainable agriculture, farmer livelihoods, human rights, forestry, environmental performance and greenhouse‑gas emissions, ensuring robust data and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a sustainability strategy aligned with global targets and customer expectations.
• Lead programmes covering sustainable agriculture, farmer livelihoods, human rights, forestry, environmental performance and GHG emissions.
• Ensure accuracy of sustainability data, traceability systems and customer reports, supported by evidence.
• Oversee audits, external verification and corrective action plans.
• Identify ESG risks, advise senior management on priorities and mitigation measures.
• Manage the sustainability team and coordinate delivery across operations, HR, finance and compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including senior leadership across multiple functions.
• Experience in agro‑processing, agricultural supply chains, manufacturing or origin operations.
• Strong practical experience in ESG reporting, audits, data assurance and customer engagement.
• Ability to translate strategy into operating plans, budgets and measurable results.
• Relevant bachelor’s degree; postgraduate qualifications and professional certifications are a plus.
