Site Engineer - Building and Housing Construction

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for an experienced Site Engineer specializing in building and housing construction, based in Dar es Salaam. The role covers on-site supervision of construction activities, making sure projects follow approved designs, quality standards, timelines and safety regulations. The ideal candidate is a local professional with extensive hands-on experience in residential and building projects.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily on-site construction activities for building and housing projects
• Ensure works follow approved drawings, specifications and standards
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, architects and consultants on site
• Monitor progress and ensure timelines and milestones are met
• Carry out site inspections for quality control, safety compliance and workmanship
• Prepare site reports, progress updates and material usage records
• Manage site resources such as labor, materials and equipment
• Resolve technical issues and construction challenges promptly
• Ensure compliance with local building regulations, safety standards and environmental requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in building and housing construction projects
• Local candidate with solid experience in the local construction environment

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and site management practices
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings accurately
• Excellent leadership, coordination and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of health, safety and quality control standards
