Site Accountant – Construction Finance Role in Tanzania

About the role

The Site Accountant will manage all financial and accounting activities at the project site, ensuring accurate transaction recording, cost control and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Site Financial Management: process and record site transactions, invoices, petty cash, supplier payments and staff advances while maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Budget Monitoring & Cost Control: track project expenditures against approved budgets, provide cost analysis reports and flag budget variances or financial risks.
• Petty Cash & Cash Flow Management: manage site petty cash in line with procedures, perform regular reconciliations and safeguard assets.
• Procurement & Supplier Management: verify purchase requisitions, orders, delivery notes and supplier invoices before payment processing.
• Financial Reporting: prepare weekly and monthly site financial, cost and expenditure summaries for management review.
• Compliance & Audit: ensure adherence to company financial procedures, statutory requirements, VAT and withholding tax, and support internal and external audits.
• Inventory & Asset Management: maintain records of site assets, tools and materials and assist with periodic stock counts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field (CPA/ACCA qualification is a plus).
• Minimum six years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, engineering or other project‑based environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
