Senior Tax Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead our client’s tax strategy and compliance function across the energy, petroleum, logistics and transportation sectors in Tanzania. The role will shape tax planning, manage audits and ensure the organisation meets all statutory and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all tax matters, including VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, customs duties and statutory compliance.
• Manage tax audits, assessments, objections and regulatory engagements.
• Develop and implement tax planning and compliance strategies.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to secure and maintain licences, permits and registrations.
• Conduct compliance reviews and strengthen governance frameworks.
• Advise senior management on tax, legal and regulatory implications of business decisions.
• Identify and mitigate tax, operational and compliance risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA (T), ACCA, CTA or equivalent.
• 8‑10 years of experience in tax and compliance, with proven leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, regulatory frameworks and corporate governance.
• Experience dealing with TRA, EWURA, OSHA, BRELA, TPA and other regulatory authorities.
