Finance Manager

About the role

Educate! is seeking a Finance Manager to lead its finance function in Tanzania. The role will oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting and internal controls for a fast‑growing non‑profit focused on youth employment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership of the finance team, manage the Finance Coordinator and Finance Officer, set priorities and ensure performance.
• Design, implement and continuously improve financial management systems, policies, controls and procedures across the organization.
• Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements, budget vs. actual reports, cash‑flow forecasts and ad‑hoc financial scenarios for senior management.
• Oversee all accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable, revenue processing, fixed‑asset tracking, bank reconciliations and month‑end close using QuickBooks.
• Coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements, tax returns and compliance reporting to the Tanzania Revenue Authority and NGO regulators.
• Partner with program and operations leads to anticipate financial needs, approve budgets and provide timely guidance for programme delivery.

Required profile

• BSc in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Commerce and a current CPA (T) membership.
• 3–5 years of finance and accounting experience in a non‑profit environment, with a proven track record of leading multiple projects.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes, drive change management and develop junior finance staff.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks accounting software.
• Professional CPA (T) qualification.
