Senior Project Engineer - Building and Housing Construction

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a highly experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in building and housing construction. The role covers planning, coordinating and overseeing construction projects from inception to completion, keeping them within scope, time, budget and quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing residential and building projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage building and housing construction projects from start to finish.
• Ensure projects follow approved designs, specifications, budgets and timelines.
• Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Monitor progress, costs and resource use to ensure efficiency and cost control.
• Review and approve technical drawings, work plans and construction methods.
• Ensure compliance with local building regulations, safety standards and quality requirements.
• Identify risks, resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare and submit project reports, schedules and progress updates to management.
• Oversee quality assurance and health and safety compliance on site.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in building and housing construction projects.
• Strong experience in project planning, coordination and construction management.
• Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials and building standards.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
• Local candidate with in-depth knowledge of the local construction environment.
