Senior Manager Procurement – East Africa

About the role

As Senior Manager Procurement for East Africa, you will shape the procurement function into a strategic advantage that supports Sanku’s mission to improve health outcomes across the continent. You will lead sourcing, supplier management and logistics for a wide range of categories, ensuring value, risk mitigation and continuity of supply.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category management for raw materials, packaging, freight, equipment and indirect spend.
• Lead high‑value procurement projects, including supplier selection, tendering, contract negotiation and commercial agreement management.
• Own end‑to‑end import logistics, managing freight, customs clearance, duties and landed‑cost calculations.
• Maintain safety‑stock levels, build second‑source coverage and secure price‑lock contracts for critical items.
• Establish and nurture strategic relationships with regional and international suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability and fair dispute resolution.
• Define internal service standards for procurement and monitor compliance with company policies, donor requirements and local regulations.
• Drive digitalisation of procurement processes and reporting to improve transparency and efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in procurement or supply‑chain management, preferably within the food or agricultural sector.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex, high‑value sourcing initiatives.
• Strong understanding of import logistics, landed‑cost analysis and supplier risk management.
• Excellent negotiation skills and experience establishing long‑term supplier partnerships.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements, donor regulations and local procurement laws.
