Senior Manager – Learning & Development (Head of L&D)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Manager to build and lead the Learning & Development function for a fast‑growing agritech company operating across multiple African geographies. This strategic, hands‑on role will shape how the workforce learns, develops, and performs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and launch the end‑to‑end L&D function, including strategy, structure, systems, and governance.
• Create onboarding, leadership, technical, and career development programs for a multi‑country, multicultural workforce.
• Partner with business heads and HR leaders to identify skill gaps and develop role‑specific capability roadmaps.
• Build and manage a scalable Learning Management System (LMS) and oversee vendor/facilitator networks.
• Develop metrics and reporting frameworks to measure training effectiveness and business impact.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of L&D professionals as the function expands.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning across field and corporate teams in Tanzania and other operating regions.

Required profile

• 8+ years progressive L&D experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or head‑of‑function role.
• Proven track record of setting up or scaling an L&D function in an early‑stage, operations‑heavy environment (e.g., agritech, agriculture, FMCG).
• Strong instructional design, facilitation, and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Experience working across diverse geographies and cultures.
• Willingness to be based in Tanzania and travel regionally as needed.
