Senior Manager – Learning & Development (Head of L&D)

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing agritech company in Tanzania to build its Learning & Development function from the ground up. This senior, hands‑on role will shape how a multi‑country, multicultural workforce learns, develops, and performs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and launch the end‑to‑end L&D strategy, structure, systems and governance.
• Create onboarding, leadership, technical and career development programmes for a multi‑geography workforce.
• Partner with business heads and HR to identify skill gaps and develop capability road‑maps.
• Set up and manage a scalable LMS and vendor/facilitator network across regions.
• Define metrics and reporting frameworks to assess training effectiveness and business impact.
• Recruit, mentor and grow a team of L&D professionals as the function expands.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning across field and corporate teams.

Required profile

• 8+ years progressive L&D experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or head‑of‑function role.
• Proven track record of establishing or scaling an L&D function in an early‑stage organization, preferably in agritech, agriculture, FMCG or similar operations‑heavy sectors.
• Strong instructional design, facilitation and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Experience working across diverse geographies and cultures.
• Willingness to be based in Tanzania and travel regionally as needed.
