Senior Accountant – Hospitality & Entertainment

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead the accounting function for a hospitality and entertainment business in Dar es Salaam. You will ensure accurate financial records, support management reporting, and uphold strong internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee the General Ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, balance‑sheet reconciliations and assist in the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Support internal and external audits by providing complete and accurate documentation.
• Review daily cash reconciliations, monitor cash collections and deposits, and assist with cash‑flow forecasting.
• Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on corporate, event and sponsorship receivables, and produce debtor ageing reports.
• Supervise supplier account reconciliations, review payment schedules and verify balances before processing payments.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and departmental performance reporting.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory obligations.
• Lead, mentor and supervise the Payables Accountant and Cashiers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA (T), ACCA or CIMA is highly preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior role with staff supervision.
• Experience in hospitality, retail, entertainment or service industries is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software/systems.
