Sea Freight Coordinator

About the role
The Sea Freight Coordinator will manage end‑to‑end sea freight operations for both imports and exports, ensuring timely delivery and full compliance with customs and port regulations. Working closely with shipping lines, consolidators, and internal teams, the role supports Alistair Group’s mission to make Africa work better.
Key responsibilities
- Arrange bookings with shipping lines, consolidators and freight forwarders and monitor vessel schedules and shipment milestones.
- Coordinate loading, unloading and container movements with ports, depots and transport teams.
- Prepare, verify and process sea freight documentation such as bills of lading, manifests, commercial invoices and packing lists.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, port authority rules and international shipping standards.
- Provide regular shipment status updates to clients, partners and internal teams and resolve operational issues with stakeholders.
- Verify freight charges, detention, demurrage and port fees, and assist with supplier invoice checks.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities through better planning and carrier selection.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on shipment performance, delays and other key metrics.
