Sales & Operations Manager - Metal Fabrication

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited, active in metal fabrication and engineering, is looking for a Sales & Operations Manager to lead business development and run the day-to-day of a newly equipped fabrication workshop. The role mixes hands-on sales generation with operational oversight, turning a high-capacity but underutilized workshop into a revenue-generating business. It suits someone who is technically savvy, commercially astute and comfortable in a performance-driven environment with uncapped commission.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run strategies to generate B2B sales leads in construction, mining, OEMs and infrastructure.
• Secure government and private sector tenders, RFQs and long-term contracts for fabrication services.
• Manage workshop floor operations: job scheduling, quality control, staff coordination and production efficiency.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations from technical drawings, material usage, labour and machine time.
• Build relationships with suppliers, contractors and industry players, and monitor projects for on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Work with senior management on pricing, business models and performance targets, and report weekly on performance, the sales pipeline and contract status.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' proven experience in sales and operations within the metal fabrication industry.
• Strong track record securing contracts for machining, sheet metal bending, welding or structural steelwork.
• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and guide clients on solutions.
• Familiarity with fabrication machinery such as lathes, radial drills, shapers and shearing machines.
• Deep knowledge of the Tanzanian industrial and infrastructure market.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills, with a drive for results and commission-based earnings.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with tendering platforms (e.g. GeM, CPP) is a plus.
