Sales Engineer – Mwanza Region

About the role

Timken is seeking a dynamic Sales Engineer to join its team in the Mwanza region of Tanzania. You will be responsible for driving growth, building strong customer partnerships, and promoting Timken’s advanced industrial solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Meet or exceed regional sales targets in line with company strategy.
• Collaborate with the Sales Manager to create customer‑specific sales plans, pricing strategies and demand forecasts.
• Spend at least 80% of working time on direct, face‑to‑face customer engagement, both new and existing.
• Identify market opportunities, assess product fit and develop account plans for high‑potential customers.
• Coordinate with internal functions such as Marketing, Engineering, Customer Service, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
• Develop and support a channel‑partner network through joint visits, technical guidance and marketing activities.
• Provide technical training on Timken products to internal and external audiences.
• Maintain a healthy CRM pipeline, logging opportunities and visit records.
• Monitor competitor activity and contribute to pricing and negotiation strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of sales experience in industrial sectors such as bearings, metals, mining or cement.
• Proven experience selling solutions or services to the mining industry is strongly preferred.
• Extensive experience working with distribution networks and end‑users.
• Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.
• Valid, unendorsed driver’s licence and willingness to be based permanently in Mwanza.
