RM Agribusiness Livestock Specialist

About the role

The RM Agribusiness Livestock Specialist will develop, manage and grow Equity Bank Tanzania's livestock and livestock‑related agribusiness portfolio. The role provides specialised management and technical support to livestock farmers, cooperatives, dairy groups, ranchers, pastoralist organisations, aggregators, processors, abattoirs, feed manufacturers and other actors across the livestock value chain. It identifies financing opportunities, builds a sustainable pipeline of agricultural customers and facilitates access to appropriate financial products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic relationships with livestock producers, cooperatives, aggregators, processors, feed manufacturers and off‑takers, building a strong pipeline of quality customers.
• Map and analyse livestock value chains (dairy, beef, poultry, goats, sheep) to identify financing gaps, risks and value‑addition opportunities.
• Provide technical guidance on animal nutrition, breeding, health, housing and climate‑smart practices to improve productivity and profitability.
• Originate and assess livestock loan applications, prepare credit proposals and monitor portfolio risk, ensuring compliance with credit, KYC and AML policies.
• Mobilise deposits and promote transaction‑banking and digital payment solutions across the livestock value chain.
• Organise farmer sensitisation forums on financial literacy, business planning and responsible borrowing.
• Develop partnerships with government authorities, NGOs, veterinary institutions, research organisations and insurance providers to unlock blended‑finance solutions.
• Maintain accurate customer and pipeline data, monitor market trends, disease outbreaks and regulatory changes, and report on portfolio performance.
