Relationship Officer – Islamic Banking

About the role

The Relationship Officer – Islamic Banking is the frontline representative of NBC’s Lariba proposition, responsible for acquiring new customers and deepening existing relationships while ensuring full compliance with Shari’ah principles. Reporting to the Relationship Manager, the officer supports deposit mobilisation, financing origination, and overall customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, approach, and convert new‑to‑bank Islamic Banking customers across assigned territories.
• Develop and execute weekly and monthly call plans targeting individuals, households, small businesses, traders and institutions.
• Generate leads from walk‑ins, referrals, community networks, social media and market activations.
• Conduct needs‑assessment meetings, present product proposals and financing applications.
• Manage end‑to‑end onboarding, ensuring all documentation, KYC and Shari’ah compliance checks are completed.
• Participate in community events, mosque outreach programmes and trade association meetings to raise awareness.
• Maintain up‑to‑date CRM records and provide regular pipeline reports to the Relationship Manager.
• Assume day‑to‑day client engagement and pipeline ownership in the absence of the Relationship Manager.

Required profile

• Experience in banking or financial services with a focus on Islamic Banking.
• Strong understanding of Shari’ah‑compliant banking products and regulations.
• Proven ability to prospect, acquire and retain customers in a field‑based environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for community and client interactions.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and manage a sales pipeline effectively.
