Internal Audit Manager

About the role

The Internal Audit Manager will lead audit assignments for NBC, Tanzania's longest‑standing bank, ensuring compliance with the audit plan, policies and quality standards. The role involves close interaction with business units to identify risks, test controls and provide actionable recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute design effectiveness and operating effectiveness testing across key risk areas.
• Develop and maintain relationships with audit contacts and business stakeholders, facilitating open discussion of risks.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance to junior auditors, sharing best practices and ensuring high‑quality work papers.
• Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls, document findings in Audit Bond and agree observations with management promptly.
• Support data‑analytics and automation initiatives, performing issue validation testing and contributing to continuous improvement of audit methodology.

Required profile

• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) and a university degree; CIA certification is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in internal or external audit within a major financial institution.
• Experience in risk‑based auditing and familiarity with regulations such as KYC, AML and sanctions.
• Strong knowledge of banking operations, including credit risk, corporate banking, wealth management or related high‑risk areas.
