Project Officer

About the role

The Project Officer will support the implementation of the Afya Himilivu Project, coordinating field activities across districts and regions in Tanzania. This role involves providing technical assistance, strengthening stakeholder engagement, monitoring project performance, and ensuring timely reporting of results to improve women’s and children’s health and community climate resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of project activities in assigned districts and regions.
• Organise and facilitate trainings, workshops, review meetings, supportive supervision visits, and community‑based outreach events.
• Follow up on action points from technical meetings and supervision visits to ensure timely execution.
• Ensure project activities comply with approved work plans, donor requirements, national guidelines and organizational standards.
• Provide technical assistance to health workers, community health workers and community structures on project interventions.
• Support implementation of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH), nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, community health and climate‑resilient health system interventions.
• Facilitate dissemination and application of national guidelines, standards and protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, supportive supervision, mentorship and coaching to strengthen service delivery.
• Maintain effective collaboration with Regional and Council Health Management Teams, health facilities and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Sciences).
• Proven experience in coordinating health‑related projects, preferably in Tanzania or similar settings.
• Familiarity with the Tanzanian health system, government structures and community health mechanisms.
• Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government teams, NGOs and community partners.
