Project Officer

About the role

The Project Officer will support the effective implementation of the Afya Himilivu Project in Tanzania. Working closely with regional and council health management teams, health facilities, community health workers and other stakeholders, the role aims to improve access to quality health, nutrition and climate‑resilient services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day project activities in assigned districts and regions, ensuring alignment with approved work plans and donor requirements.
• Organise and facilitate trainings, workshops, review meetings, supportive supervision visits and community‑based outreach events.
• Follow up on action points from technical meetings and supervision visits, monitoring progress against timelines and quality standards.
• Provide technical assistance to health workers, CHWs and community structures on MNCAH, nutrition, SRH, community health and climate‑smart health interventions.
• Disseminate national guidelines, standards and protocols, supporting quality‑improvement initiatives at facility and community levels.
• Participate in mentorship, coaching and supportive supervision to strengthen service delivery.
• Maintain stakeholder engagement with government health teams, NGOs and community groups to ensure integrated project implementation.

Required profile

• Experience coordinating health‑related projects within government or non‑profit settings.
• Familiarity with maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and climate‑resilient health systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with regional health management teams, health facilities and community structures.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for monitoring and reporting.
