Patient Services Representative (PRN)

About the role

The Patient Services Representative (PRN) provides front‑office support in a hospital setting, ensuring patients are registered, scheduled, and billed accurately. This position works directly with patients, clinical staff, and insurance providers to facilitate a smooth intake experience.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule walk‑in appointments accurately using the hospital EMR system.
• Register and check‑in patients upon arrival, completing new‑patient registration with precision.
• Collect co‑pays, post payments to patient accounts, and issue receipts through the EMR.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and assemble patient information packets.
• Scan and upload registration documents into the EMR system.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front‑desk area.
• Perform daily reporting and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in hospital or outpatient billing, insurance verification, collections, payment posting, or front‑office operations.
• Ability to lift 20 lb regularly, push/pull 25 lb, and stand or walk for up to five hours per day.
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemical hazards, and possible radiation (Category I).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience using a hospital Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for scheduling, registration, and billing.
