Operations Manager – Logistics

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our logistics and transportation functions. Reporting to the General Manager, you will ensure efficient truck operations, compliance with safety standards, and alignment with business development goals.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve daily truck turnaround of 500 km and meet monthly revenue targets.
• Plan, develop, organise, direct and evaluate transportation routes in line with business growth.
• Oversee dispatching, routing, and tracking of trucks, ensuring optimal utilisation.
• Implement and manage health, safety, security, QMS and OH&S programmes for transportation.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and manage related procedures.
• Monitor key performance indicators to assess efficiency and effectiveness.
• Investigate accidents and customer complaints, working with SHEQ and Commercial Manager to resolve issues and maintain Service Level Agreements.
• Mentor and develop operations staff, handling performance management and staff training.
• Recommend capital expenditures for new trucks, equipment or property to improve operations.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual operational reports for senior management.
• Manage stock control and verify inventory accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Management.
• Minimum five years of managerial experience in the logistics or transportation sector.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets and drive operational performance.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards and quality management systems.
