Long Hole Driller – Underground Mining

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for an experienced Long Hole Driller to operate and maintain long‑hole drilling equipment in an underground hard‑rock mine. You will work safely and efficiently to meet production targets while upholding Barrick’s core values.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the long‑hole platform safely, including setup, drilling, tramming, shutdown and end‑of‑shift reporting.
• Interpret drill designs, ring patterns and hole plans, adjusting parameters to suit ground conditions.
• Perform pre‑start inspections, routine checks and identify mechanical or performance issues.
• Ensure production targets are met while maintaining drill accuracy, hole quality and compliance with geological, regulatory and surveying specifications.
• Report and correct unsafe acts or conditions promptly and lead by example in safety leadership.
• Collaborate with technical, supervisory and maintenance teams to achieve quality and safety standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Drilling Machinery Competency Certification.
• Minimum 5 years underground hard‑rock mining experience with proven long‑hole production drilling.
• Demonstrated experience operating Sandvik DL422i (or DL421/DL431) drills.
• Familiarity with Sandvik i‑Series drill control systems, automation features and digital drill plans.
• Strong focus on safety compliance, hazard identification and procedural adherence.
• Effective communication with supervisors, engineers, surveyors and maintenance personnel.
