Legal Manager & Company Secretary

About the role

The Legal Manager & Company Secretary will provide strategic legal counsel across fintech, banking and telecom products while ensuring robust corporate governance. This senior position also serves as the Data Protection Officer, overseeing compliance with Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely legal advice to line management on business matters, especially fintech products such as digital payments, lending and recovery.
• Draft, review, approve and monitor contracts, ensuring compliance with delegation authority and preventing breaches.
• Manage outsourced legal services, including SLAs with external providers.
• Represent the company and its subsidiaries in litigation, courts and alternative dispute resolution.
• Act as primary advisor to the board on fiduciary duties, coordinate board and committee meetings, prepare agendas, minutes and track resolution implementation.
• Maintain statutory filings with BRELA and keep company records up‑to‑date.
• Serve as liaison with the Personal Data Protection Commission, implement the privacy framework, manage DSARs, conduct DPIAs and lead breach response.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a valid High Court of Tanzania practising licence.
• At least 6 years of experience in the banking, telecom or fintech sector.
• Regulatory experience with BOT, TCRA, PDPC, Companies Act or similar authorities.
