Inventory & Procurement Controller (Zanzibar)

About the role
The Inventory & Procurement Controller will oversee all inventory and purchasing activities for the new ZOMA duty‑free concept at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. Working closely with the Operations Supervisor, you will ensure accurate stock control, timely reporting and compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Direct all stock movements and record them accurately in the ERP system.
- Validate goods receipts, manage put‑away, bin allocation and maintain batch, expiry and vintage records.
- Enforce FIFO, storage standards and product quality handling.
- Lead periodic reconciliations between ERP and TANCIS and upload monthly duty‑free sales data.
- Coordinate customs clearance for international shipments.
- Plan and execute perpetual and annual physical inventories, reporting any discrepancies.
- Oversee damaged/expired stock, write‑offs and product destruction in line with policy.
- Optimize par levels, monitor short‑expiry items and prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Produce monthly inventory reports for finance and management review.
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation and recommend process improvements.
- Act as first point of contact for new supplier or product enquiries and align with buying teams.
- Maintain the item master library, range plans and forecasting tools.
- Liaise with Commercial Finance, Buyers and Head Chef for margin approvals on new listings.
- Manage supplier price lists and update trade agreements with the Pricing team.
Required profile
- Minimum 4 years of experience in inventory or procurement, preferably in FMCG or duty‑free environments.
- Experience managing small, multicultural teams.
- Basic knowledge of audit, internal controls and accounting principles.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems and RF (radio‑frequency) technology.
- Advanced use of the MS Office suite, especially Excel for reporting and analysis.
- Ability to compile and interpret numerical data for financial and management purposes.
