Operations Manager – Security, Transport & Logistics

About the role

The Operations Manager will oversee transport, fleet operations, finished‑goods warehouses, logistics and security for a manufacturing operation in Dar es Salaam, ensuring timely deliveries, operational efficiency and loss minimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and monitor finished flour deliveries through own and hired trucks.
• Manage fleet utilisation, routing, turnaround time, payload and delivery performance.
• Evaluate and control third‑party truck hiring and transport costs.
• Coordinate daily dispatches with Sales, Production, Warehouse and Transport teams.
• Manage finished‑goods warehouses, including stock accuracy, loading, dispatch and reconciliation.
• Ensure proper controls for truck entry/exit, weighbridge, loading approvals and gate documentation.
• Oversee security across factories, warehouses, yards and loading areas, investigating and preventing theft, pilferage and unauthorised movements.
• Monitor CCTV, access control systems and security deployment.
• Develop and implement SOPs and operational controls.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction in transport, warehousing and security.
• Lead, supervise and develop transport, warehouse and security teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in FMCG, food manufacturing, milling or industrial operations.
• Strong experience in fleet/transport and warehouse management.
• Hands‑on experience in security, loss prevention and operational controls.
• Good knowledge of truck operations, route planning and third‑party transport management.
• ERP/SAP experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem‑solving and coordination skills.
• High integrity with a hands‑on approach and strong follow‑up skills.
