HIV Clinical Services Officer

About the role

The HIV Clinical Services Officer will support the delivery of high‑quality, comprehensive HIV care and treatment services across Tanzania, aligning with national guidelines and PEPFAR priorities. The role focuses on strengthening the HIV treatment cascade from case identification through viral load suppression.

Key responsibilities

• Support provision of comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment services in accordance with national guidelines.
• Ensure effective implementation of the clinical cascade from case identification, ART initiation, adherence counseling, retention, to viral load suppression.
• Facilitate integration of advanced HIV disease services, CD4 testing, hypertension, diabetes, hepatitis and mental health screening into HIV care.
• Provide technical support and oversight to healthcare providers on differentiated service delivery models such as same‑day ART initiation and multi‑month dispensing.
• Collaborate with council health teams, facility staff and community partners to ensure timely linkage, retention and data‑driven quality improvement.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) from a recognized institution.
• Minimum four years experience in HIV/AIDS clinical care and treatment, preferably within a PEPFAR‑supported programme.

Required skills

• Strong technical expertise in HIV/AIDS care, ART management and differentiated service delivery.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data systems such as CTC2 and DHIS2.
• Fluent in English and Swahili (spoken and written).
