Head of Mines – Senior Mining Operations Leader

About the role

The Head of Mines is the most senior technical and operational leader responsible for all quarry and mining activities at Dangote Cement Limited Tanzania Limestone Mines. This role ensures safe, efficient and cost‑effective extraction of limestone and associated raw materials to support a 3.0 MTPA cement plant.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement short‑, medium‑ and long‑term mining plans for all active and future lease areas.
• Manage systematic mining sequences, bench exposure, inter‑burden clearing and stockpile maintenance.
• Maintain and update reserve estimates using survey data, blast reconciliations and geological assessments.
• Oversee in‑house drilling and blasting operations with Flexiroc D60 fleet and the full HEMM equipment fleet.
• Control crusher feed quality, throughput and ensure compliance with Tanzanian mining and environmental regulations (TMAA, MEM, NEMC, Explosives Act).
• Coordinate with Survey Engineer for bench profiling, topographic surveys and production reconciliation.
• Plan and initiate development of new mining blocks to guarantee uninterrupted raw material supply.

• Responsible for compliance with all Tanzania mining and environmental regulations.

• Flexiroc D60 drilling (150 mm rotary‑percussive).
• Blasting operations.
• HEMM equipment operation (16 equipment types).
• Crusher feed quality and throughput control.
• Mine planning and reserve management.
• Survey coordination and volumetric production reconciliation.
• Regulatory compliance (TMAA, MEM, NEMC, Tanzania Explosives Act).
