Head of Financial Institutions & DFIs

About the role

The Head of Financial Institutions & DFIs will lead NMB’s strategic engagement with local and foreign banks, Development Finance Institutions, Multilateral Development Banks and International Organizations. This senior position is responsible for diversifying funding sources, unlocking trade finance limits, and securing technical assistance to support the bank’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with banks, DFIs, MDBs and IOs to grow and diversify the institution’s client portfolio across geographies, currencies and investment philosophies.
• Negotiate lines of credit, pricing and product terms to ensure competitive offerings and drive revenue across trade finance, money markets, FX, derivatives and capital markets.
• Develop and implement mid‑ and long‑term funding strategies, manage borrowing processes, and coordinate approvals, due diligence and post‑funding reporting.
• Monitor existing loans, assess repayment or renewal options, and work with Trading and ALM teams to hedge interest‑rate and exchange‑rate risks.
• Research investment policies of partner institutions to identify collaboration opportunities and facilitate equity partnerships.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading strategic engagement with financial institutions, DFIs, MDBs or similar entities.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage complex funding arrangements.
• Excellent relationship‑building capabilities with both local and international stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse investment policies, market trends and regulatory environments.
