Gym Coach & Operations (Masaki, Dar es Salaam)

About the role

This position combines hands‑on fitness coaching with day‑to‑day gym management at a premium facility in Masaki, Dar es Salaam. You will guide members through personalised training programmes while ensuring the gym environment remains safe, clean and well‑organised.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct fitness assessments and design safe, effective, personalised training plans.
• Coach and motivate members, monitoring technique, equipment use and progress.
• Maintain a visible presence on the gym floor to provide professional support.
• Oversee cleanliness, organisation and proper use of all gym equipment and facilities.
• Identify maintenance or safety issues and coordinate resolution with relevant teams.
• Support implementation of gym procedures, standards and daily operational routines.
• Collaborate with reception, sales, administration, cleaning and other departments for smooth gym operations.
• Handle member concerns professionally and contribute to a premium customer experience.
• Assist in organising gym activities, member‑engagement initiatives and fitness programmes.
• Provide operational updates and staff coordination support to management as needed.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Fitness, Sports Science, Physical Education, Exercise Science or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Gym Coach, Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of exercise programming, fitness training, equipment use and safe exercise practices.
• Good understanding of gym operations, facility management and customer service.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate members.
• Demonstrated leadership and coordination abilities across multiple departments.
• Well‑organised, proactive and attentive to cleanliness, safety and equipment standards.
