Geological Technician – Exploration

About the role

Join the exploration team at Bulyanhulu Gold Mine and provide essential technical support to geologists and engineers. You will be involved in field sampling, core and rock logging, and data management to help drive successful mining projects.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, label, prepare and process geological samples.
• Assist with geological mapping, field surveys and site investigations.
• Record and maintain sampling and drilling data in databases and spreadsheets.
• Support core photography, sample preparation and dispatch to laboratories.
• Conduct routine laboratory and field testing following approved procedures.
• Monitor drilling activities and keep accurate timesheets.
• Help with geological and geotechnical investigations and field programmes.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as pXRF, TerraSpec, GPS and other geological instruments.

Required profile

• Good knowledge of basic geology, mineralogy, rocks and geological structures.
• Understanding of QA/QC and chain‑of‑custody procedures.
• Strong observation, analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with pXRF instruments.
• Experience with TerraSpec instruments.
• Proficiency using GPS for field navigation.
• Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
