FMCG Sales Specialist – Southern Tanzania (Mtwara)

About the role

The DSE Southern Sales Specialist will drive sales growth and market expansion across Mtwara and the wider Southern Tanzania region. You will build strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers, retailers and key customers to ensure product availability, increase market penetration and consistently meet sales targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual targets in Mtwara and the assigned Southern territory.
• Identify and acquire new customers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers to expand market coverage.
• Maintain relationships with existing partners to drive retention, repeat orders and business growth.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing and customer needs, providing regular market intelligence.
• Ensure product visibility, distribution and proper market penetration across the territory.
• Conduct regular field visits, follow up on orders, resolve issues and uncover additional sales opportunities.
• Track sales performance, stock levels, collections and prepare accurate reports for management.
• Collaborate with distributors and internal teams to improve sales execution and distribution efficiency.
• Support promotional activities, product launches and merchandising to boost brand awareness.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or related field.
• 2–3 years proven sales experience, preferably in FMCG, distribution or consumer goods.
• Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Strong knowledge of Mtwara and Southern Tanzania market, with existing contacts being an advantage.
• Experience managing distributors, wholesalers, retailers and key accounts.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship‑management skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Mtwara and the Southern Zone.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general MS Office suite.
