Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will support the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements, and managing cash‑flow and budgeting processes within a retail/FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in administering and monitoring the financial system to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions.
• Implement and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and risk‑management procedures.
• Manage company assets, payments authorisation, payroll processing and employee reimbursements.
• Prepare and share sales invoices, analyse margins, and compare results with budget.
• Oversee accounts receivable and payable, perform bank and payment reconciliations.
• Process statutory payments (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, VAT, WHT, Corporate Tax) and maintain filing systems.
• Prepare financial management reports, balance‑sheet schedules, and treasury plans.
• Control cash‑flows, working capital and budgets, and assist with monthly budget vs. actual analysis.
• Maintain vendor registers, general ledger reconciliation, and ensure security of company cheques.
• Support office administration, document storage, insurance coverage, and permit issuance.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
• 2‑3 years of financial management experience in retail or FMCG.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and local statutory legislation.
• Excellent time‑management and organisational abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with an accounting software or system.
