Finance & Administration Officer – Tanzania

About the role

The Finance & Administration Officer will be an employee of Lutheran World Relief, responsible for delivering financial, accounting, and administrative support for the Tanzania programme. The role ensures compliance with organisational policies, US Government regulations and Tanzanian financial rules while supporting the effective use of donor funds.

Key responsibilities

• Develop annual, activity and partner budgets and obtain approvals.
• Monitor country budgets and spending, flag issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Attend monthly and quarterly BVA review meetings and report on financial performance.
• Ensure all project costs are reasonable, allowable and properly allocated.
• Apply Corus and donor financial policies, including travel and procurement procedures.
• Manage tax obligations and ensure timely payments.
• Record transactions and reconciliations accurately in the accounting system.
• Prepare fund requests and financial reports for headquarters.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, draft terms of reference and implement recommendations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date sub‑office leases and oversee procurement of goods and services according to LWR policy.

Required profile

• Strong experience in grant management, accounting and audit processes.
• Expert knowledge of US Government regulations and Tanzanian financial regulations governing development programmes.
• Proven ability to develop and monitor budgets and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
