Executive Director of Operations – Safari & Hospitality

About the role

The Executive Director of Operations will lead the performance and operational excellence of the Mount Kilimanjaro Safari Club portfolio, which includes safari lodges, camps, and related hospitality ventures. Reporting to the CEO – Hospitality & Conservation, the role ensures that every guest experience aligns with the company’s strategic vision and sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO to translate strategic direction into operational priorities, business plans, and measurable outcomes.
• Provide executive leadership across all safari, lodge, camp, and hospitality operations, ensuring consistent delivery of high‑quality guest experiences.
• Act as custodian of operational assets and financial resources, applying a long‑term ownership mindset to decision‑making.
• Set performance expectations, monitor financial, operational, guest experience, asset, and people indicators, and intervene when performance falls short.
• Lead regular executive business reviews and property performance reviews, driving corrective actions and identifying opportunities.
• Oversee on‑ground sales, trade relationships, guest conversion, and on‑property revenue and expense management.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in hospitality, tourism, or related service industries.
• Strong financial acumen with a track record of managing large‑scale operational budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to drive operational efficiency and sustainable profitability.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, both internal and external.
