Executive Chef – Luxury Safari Lodge

About the role

The Executive Chef will lead the culinary operations at Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge, delivering exceptional food experiences for guests and staff. This senior position combines menu creation, kitchen management, and staff development within a luxury safari environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and elevate food standards for guests and staff.
• Implement kitchen standards and conduct regular inspections of staff kitchens and canteens.
• Develop, train, and mentor chefs and trainees, supporting career progression.
• Manage administrative duties such as staff files, off‑day schedules, and hygiene compliance.
• Create seasonal menus aligned with guest preferences and on‑site produce.
• Oversee food presentation according to the lodge’s styling guide.
• Control stock, ordering, and rotation to ensure freshness and cost efficiency.
• Maintain kitchen equipment proactively.
• Communicate regularly with chefs, department heads, lodge manager, and suppliers.
• Interact with guests, gather feedback, and accommodate special dietary needs.

Required profile

• Formal culinary qualifications.
• Minimum 2 years of management experience, preferably in a 5‑star operation.
• Ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail.
• Guest‑focused attitude, positive outlook, and excellent teamwork.
