Director of Market Integration

About the role

Trees for the Future is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial leader to design and execute its market integration strategy. The Director will bridge farm‑level programming with viable market access, ensuring smallholder farmers receive the information and resources needed to meet high‑margin market demands while advancing land restoration goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current farmer engagement models, market touch points, and long‑term objectives.
• Develop and pilot a comprehensive market integration strategy across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
• Design, implement, and evaluate partnerships that connect farmers to commercial value chains.
• Identify and balance trade‑offs between commercial opportunities and environmental outcomes.
• Collaborate with the Technical Director, country teams, and last‑mile project officers.
• Travel frequently across the region to support implementation and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Private‑sector experience aligning commercial agricultural opportunities with smallholder needs.
• Proven track record developing market‑access partnerships in multiple value chains.
• Strong financial acumen and ability to conduct market analysis.
• Established network within East African agricultural markets.
• Full‑time individual contributor with existing work authorization in Kenya, Tanzania, or Uganda.
