Data Analytics Engineer

About the role

Development Media International (DMI) Tanzania is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to enhance the Tunza Afya Chat chatbot, a WhatsApp‑based tool supporting maternal and child health. You will lead data analytics, integration and reporting to help improve health outcomes across Tanzania.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines for chatbot usage and health data.
• Analyse interaction data, generate actionable insights and regular performance reports.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Health ICT partners to integrate chatbot data with national health information systems.
• Support the addition of AI‑enabled features and ensure data quality and privacy compliance.
• Document processes, create dashboards and provide recommendations to optimise the chatbot’s impact.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
• Proven experience in data analytics, preferably within health, NGOs or similar sectors.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills for working with government partners and multidisciplinary teams.

• Salary £24,000‑£26,000 per annum, plus 5% pension contribution and health insurance.
